Meet Provocative! A techno artist, based in Bulgaria, who's occupied with both mixing and producing. We at Low Frequencies have the opportunity to introduce you to both of his passions. As you may remember, he is the artist who created our 45th mix, as well as the genius behind the 'Аrrogant EP' (LFREE005). In the days between the publication of his mix for our website and the release of his latest EP we decided to give you the chance to get to know the artist through an interview. We talked about the music that he's producing and the music that inspires him. At the end of the publication you can hear the first track from the forthcoming 'Аrrogant EP'.
Hi, Martin! When did you discover your love to music and when did you start creating your first tracks?
Around 2000 I got into electronic music, nine years later I started producicing my first tracks.
You are focused on the Techno music. Why Techno? What was the influences that directed you to this style?
No. I'm not focused only on techno. Indeed I listen to all sorts of musical genres like Jazz, Hip-Hop, Drum n Bass and quality music. Techno gives me energy and is inseparable part of my life.
What kind of Techno do you prefer? Do you have favorite subgenres and artists?
Yes, I have my favorites. I like raw and argressive sound.
You are the artist behind Low Frequencies Mix 045. Tell us more about the set? What kind of tracks and artists have you picked? Why did you choose them specifically?
I recorded the set spontaneosly. I choose the tracks as I was mixing them. These tracks include some of my favorite artists I'm listening at the moment.
For how long have you been mixing? Which one came first into your life – mixing or production?
I started mixing 2005. Four years later I started producing.
Which one of the two specified above are you working on more, currently?
I'm focused mainly on production.
Besides our mix series, you also take part in our Free Release series. Arrogant EP (LFREE005) will be released in just a few weeks. Tell us more about the release.
The EP took me a long time, the tracks reflect different states of my life. There are 3 tracks in total. Each track is unique and complement the other two.
Tell us a bit more about the studio that you use. What equipment do you have?
I have that what I need. The end product is what matters, and everyone finds his own way of cartfting sound and music.Do you have a favorite approach in creating your tracks?
It all depands on my curent state.
