DIMENSIONS FESTIVAL 2017
Dimensions is an underground festival for electronic music, held in the sea town Stinjan in Croatia, and more precisely in the nearby ancient Austrian Fort Punta Christo. The place gathers some of the most respected house, techno, urban, reggae, dub, dubstep и drum 'n' bass DJs.
A truly enchanting place, entirely devoted and entrusted to those that cherish this type of music. Apart from the labyrinth of stages there, you will be able to enjoy numerous beach and deck parties across the Adriatic sea, plus a lot more amusements during the day.
Dimensions always relies on the best sound systems in the world - loads of power, but clear sound.
The unbelievable site, the artists, the organisation and the vibes place the festival among the most popular summer destinations for ravers from all over Europe as well as the world.
The fifth edition of Dimensions will be held this year, traditionally kicking-off with an Opening Concert at Pula. The ancient amphitheatre will once again turn into an arena for modern music and passion, giving start to an intriguing set of festivals in Istria. The date for the Opening Concert is the 30th of August. The beach emotions at Dimensions kick-in immediately on the next day, continuing until the 3rd of September. Right after the festival comes to an end, its "bigger brother" Outlook (6th - 10th Sept.) starts, also launching with an Opening Concert at the same amphitheatre. Thus, the two festivals form a sunny. ten-day-musical journey with great music and massive sound at the coast of the lovely Adriatic sea. The Roman amphitheatre at Pula and Fort Punta Christo will welcome tens-of-thousands musical fans, a great deal of whom will be there for both events.
As usual, the line-up covers house, techno, disco and various shades of bass and experimental music. Jeff Mills, Theo Parrish, Marcel Dettmann, Nina Kraviz, Helena Hauff, Levon Vincent, Danny Krivit, Horse Meat Disco, Binh, Sadar Bahar, Conforce, dBridge, Randomer, Serge, the Hessle Audio trio of Ben UFO, Pangaea and Pearson Sound, Joy Orbison and Resom are among the DJs confirmed, while Demdike Stare, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Radioactive Man, Amp Fiddler, A Made Up Sound and Dopplereffekt play live. An opening concert is also planned, with Grace Jones, Moderat, Yussef Kamaal and Moses Boyd on the bill.
First on the list of artists performing at the opening we can see Grace Jones. She had a successful career as a model before turning into a musical icon. Her first three albums were recorded in 1977, 1978 and 1979 resulting in a rocketing musical career.
Moderat are Modeselektor (Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary) and Apparat (Sascha Ring). They come straight from Berlin and will bring you their finest classically sounding techno and bass music at the Grand Opening in Pula. 12 years after they first met, these pioneers in music return wiser, with an evolved style and ready to make you dance!
Nina Kraviz is most certainly one of our website's favourites. The Russian is seriously into singing, producing, writing (texts) and mixing. Her career started in 2010 with the launch of her own label, the much-respected трип, just five years later. She recently announced the birth of a sub-label to трип - GALAXIID, which will emphasize on making connections with other artforms such as paintings drawn by psychedelic artists. It is expected that the music released on the new GALAXIID will be more psychedelic and experimental. Nina Kraviz is well known for her dynamic live performances, and for how she manages to transfer that energy on to the crowd. As most stars of such rank, she has become accustomed to being invited at some of the biggest festivals across the world, but Nina still continues to enjoy playing at smaller venues as well.
Pangaea, Kevin McAuley, makes heavy-hitting music. He uses elements from techno, house and jungle and transforms them in a new way. His sets have always been diverse as he never ceases to experiment.
Joy Orbison's style is a blend of house, two-step, jungle, techno and dubstep elements. Ever since being 13 of age, he stumbles upon electronic music and a couple of years later he began making it himself. His debut single "Hyph Mngo" was labelled as "the most forward-thinking dubstep track of 2009" and received a lot of support worldwide.
We shift the style direction and move on to one of the jazz projects at the festival. These are Yussef Kamaal (Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams) from London. The duo first met in 2007, both having loads of personal projects in the past. Soon after, however, they start working together, gaining inspiration from the London way of life.
Dimensions festival is proud to bring many different styles to a couple of big, yet closely situated next to each other stages, making the festival appropriate for everyone. Make your summer complete by devoting 4 days for an unforgettable stay at Croatia. More detailed info on tickets and how to get there is available at the festival's website, as well as their Facebook page.
